Elf

Elf is about elf that finds out he’s a human and when he was little Santa went to an orphanage and Buddy (played by Will Ferrell) crawled into Santa’s toy bag and he went to the North Pole. Buddy was raised as an elf he thought he was the same as everyone else till his adopted father told him he is human. Buddy decides he wants to go to New York City to see his real dad. The only thing Buddy knew about his dad is where he worked. Once Buddy gets to New York City he finds the empire state building where he meets his dad but his dad thinks he is a Christmas gram. Buddies father didn’t believe him so he had a DNA test done and he realized that Buddy was his son. Buddy try to live his life as a human but he cant help him self. Buddy forms a bond between his father’s family which his he doesn’t approve of. Though out this whole movie there are many funny scenes to try to get his dad to accept him and to love him. Deck the Halls

Christmas is almost here so I decided to blog about a holiday movie. In Deck the Halls Matthew Broderick plays Steve but around town everyone calls him Mr. Christmas. Steve saw that a family was moving in the house across the street from his. Danny DeVito plays Buddy Hall. Once Buddy moved in his twin daughters looked up their new house on satellite Internet and they couldn’t see their house. Buddy then decided he wanted his house to be seen from space. He converted his house into a holiday spectacle. Everyone around town came to watch his house light up and see the visuals the light pattern made. Steve didn’t like Buddy because Mr. Christmas was his title and the light and music wouldn’t allow him to fall asleep. Steve’s journey to regain his title back and to make peace with his new neighbor is hilarious. Buddy was able to make his wish come true by making his house the brightest. Monster-in-Law

The other day I was watching this movie with my family and all I remember is that I couldn’t stop laughing. I have seen this movie numerous times and it’s hilarious. Jennifer Lopez plays Charlie and she meets a very nice man named Kevin played by Michael Vartan. Kevin decided to bring Charlie to meet his mom but she was nervous. Charlie ended up being fine but out of no where Kevin proposes to Charlie in front of his controlling mother. Kevin’s mother is named Viola played by Jane Fonda and she con not imagine her son having another women in hi life except herself. She thinks that he just proposed cause she though that Charlie was pregnant. Charlie’s mother in law only has one thing to do and it’s to make her go crazy and leave her son. She does investigation on Charlie and tries to find out her past so she has something to tell Kevin. Charlie found out that Viola was ruining her life on purpose so they would break up. Charlie figured she could get back at Viola for all the things she has done to her. The Wedding Planner

The Wedding Planner is kind of an old movie but never gets old. Jennifer Lopez plays Mary a wedding planner. Mary loves her job and she’s very successful at it. On the other hand, Mary has a very lonely life and has no desire to have a relationship with anyone. Until she was going out to do something for her job and Mary's shoe gets stuck in a hole in a middle of the street while a huge dumpster was going her way. A man named Eddie who is played by Matthew Mcconaughey comes and saves her from the dumpster. She ended up hurt so Eddie brought Mary to the children’s hospital where he works as a doctor. After Mary gets treated they both go watch a movie together that unfortunately ends early. The next day Mary is sure that Eddie is perfect until she has meet the new client's fiancé. She was starstrucked to see that Eddie was engaged. Mary doesn’t let Steve affect her. As the movie goes on there are a lot of awkward moments between Mary and Eddie and they’re extremely funny. Anger Management

Anger management stars Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson in a comedy about a man who has bad luck. Adam Sandler plays Dave who is going on a business trip and gets stuck with the worse person he could sit with. Dave wanted headphone and asked the flight hostess if she could get him a pair and she said she would but she was talking with someone else and never got to it. Dave kept on asking politely if he could have them but the flight hostess was yelling at him so he could calm down when he was fine. A Police officer on the plane wrote him up for being "violent" on a plane. Dave had to go to court and tell them that he didn’t do anything but the judge sent him to do classes of anger management classes. Dave goes to the class and sees that his teacher was the man who sat with him on the plane. My favorite part of the movie is this scene where Dave meets the other people who are in anger management program and why they were there, its hilarious. Everyone says he is so angry and they make everything a bigger deal than what it really is. He goes back to court and he is sentenced with intensive anger management program, which means his teacher lives with him for a month. The ending was very unexpected when I saw it. Eagle Eye

I have always wanted to watch this movie so over the break I was able to view it. Shia Labeouf is one of my favorite actors and he sure didn’t disappoint me during this movie. Shia Labeouf plays Jerry Shaw who just found out that his twin brother had pasted away. After arriving back home in New York he checks his bank account and was shocked that he had $750,000 in there. He leaves the bank with money and goes to his apartment and finds it filled with chemicals, weapons and bombs. One minute later he receives a phone call say the FBI is around the corner and he has 30 seconds to escape. He didn’t follow the lady's order and he went downtown. The lady on the phone kept on calling him and telling him what to do and when to do it as if she was right there looking at him. The mysterious lady on the phone started calling this woman named Rachel who threatened she will kill her son if she doesn’t listen to her. These two are one a long and difficult journey together. The Day After Tomorrow

The Day After Tomorrow is spectacular movie. There are a lot of special effects in this movie and it actually looked believable. Jake Gyllenhaal plays Sam in the movie; he goes to a competition in New York. His father is a environmentalist and has seen that there has been a rapid change in our climate which ended up triggering a mini ice age storm. Sam’s dad needed to tell the government to evacuate people who live in the north to the south. The father tells Sam to stay where he is because if he walks out side he will freeze to death. Sam is trapped in a library with his team from the competition. Sam falls in love with a girl named Laura and one day she woke up extremely sick and she was desperate for medical attention. Sam goes outside in the eye of the storm so it wouldn’t be as bad and was able to find antibiotics. While he was outside he saw many dead people and the whole group was wondering if they were the only survivors. To find out if they were the only ones left I highly recommend watching this movie. Law Abiding Citizen

Law abiding citizen is a great movie. I wouldn’t call it a horror movie jus very bloody. There a lot of drama in this movie, its an awesome thriller. Gerard Butler plays Clyde Shelton he is a husband and father. One day 2 men broke in the Shelton family's house and raped Clyde’s wife and daughter. Clyde wasn’t able to do anything to save them. The men killed them both and felt them there. Clyde wants to take justice into his own hands because the murderer left after 5 years cause he made a deal with the lawyers. 5 years after the murderer was set free Clyde’s plan falls into place. Clyde ends up killing the murderer and planned on killing his attorney, so they can feel the pain the Clyde went through. Clyde wasn’t able to kill the attorneys because they found out how he was killing people and ended up killing Clyde with a bomb that was meant for the attorneys. I thought the ending was very sad. Clyde was sitting on his bed and waiting for the bomb to go and he was just sitting there looking down on his bracelet that says, "Daddy" to watch the trailer you can click here. Grown Ups

I saw this movie about a week ago and I found it extremely funny. It’s about a group of friends who were on the basketball team at school. When they were young there idol was their coach. The kids wanted to win their championship game for him. It would be his coach's first championships win. They played their hardest and won. Thirty years later the five friends received a call saying that their coach had passed away. That Friday they all reunited and spoke at the funeral. After the funeral everybody was going to spend the weekend at lenny's (Adam Sandler) vacation house. The five guys bring their family along to catch up in each other’s lives and to show their children how to really have fun other than watching TV or texting. But something unexpected happened, they saw they team that they beat thirty years ago and they wanted a rematch. My favorite thing about this movie is that everyone in this movie says hilarious comebacks to one another. Couples Retreat

I have always wanted to see this movie so I decided to watch it. There are four couples, one of them wants to go to Eden retreat because they specialize in building couples skills. But they don’t have the money so they asked three couples they know to go with them to be cheaper. I knew I wanted to blog about this movie but during the movie something stood out. There’s a part called West Eden and East Eden. East Eden is where you go to have fun for singles only. There are parties and new people to meet. On West Eden that would be where you go to fix your problem, strictly business. Sound familiar? Every couple goes to the retreat and has to wake up early for therapy and then they are allowed to have fun. The couple that needs help begins to receive it but the other three aren’t on the same boat. The therapist tries to make problems when they don’t have any. One of the girls wants to party and goes to East Eden to party and have fun. The couples get split up and end up meeting at East Eden and another relationship I made was that when the couples went to East Eden all their problems were resolved. The resort said you couldn’t under any circumstances go to East Eden but there problems were fixed. Kind of like the yellow wallpaper. Her husband didn’t allow her to write when it could make the situation better. This movie is really funny and I recommend watching it.

Angels and Demons

Angels and Demons is a fantastic movie. The author of the Davinci code also did Angels and Demons. This movie is very suspenseful and it’s about a race against time and murder mystery. This movie takes place in the Vatican City, where the pope died and its time to elect a new one. The Cardinals are ready to go into seclusion to choose who will be the next pope. Unfortunately there was a bomb that was found and four of the Cardinals who were elected to be the pope were missing. Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) is a symbologist who works at Harvard. Langdon knows as much as one can about the Illuminati without actually being a member of the actual group. Robert Langdon was hired to find out where the Cardinals were before midnight because that’s when the antimatter bomb will go off. Every hour a Cardinal will be murdered leading up to midnight where the entire Vatican City will be destroyed. Each Cardinal will be brutally murdered with earth, air, fire, and water. Paranormal Activity

I haven’t written a review about a scary movie on my blog so paranormal activity is the first. Personally I’m not a big fan of scary movies but I like shows about ghost and haunted houses so I figured I’d be able to watch it. I didn’t think this movie was scary. There were a couple of moments that made you hold your breath and wonder what’s going to happen but it’s not scary. Katie featherston and her boyfriend Micah Sloat move in together. They both seem to hear things at night so Micah buys a camera and leaves it on when they fall asleep hoping to catch something on tape. Katie calls a paranormal researcher to come to the house and tell her what is going on but he says he cannot help. He gives them a demon specialist phone number but the specialist wasn’t available to come to their house. The paranormal researcher told them it’s not the house and that it’s a sprit that is following Katie. She had a bad experience when she was a child with her sister in their old house. The Box

The movie The Box is my favorite suspense movie, it never gets boring or to a point that you have no desire to see it anymore. Cameron Diaz plays Norma and James Marsden plays Arthur. They are a young couple with a son, and Arthur is a NASA employee. One day Norma was at the house and there was a man named Arlington Steward (Frank Langella) who rung the doorbell. He had a box in his hands and made a deal with Norma. The deal was if you push the button you will receive 1 million dollars in cash. But someone you don’t know in the world will die. They needed the money and they didn’t know how the person would die. They decided to press the button and from there on secrets come out. This movie has a great plot but the acting could of been better. The only thing I don’t like is the ending but you can find out why once you watch it. The Back-up Plan

In the Back-up Plan, Zoe (Jennifer Lopez) has always wanted a family and for many years and she has been looking for the one. Zoe decided she’s been waiting to long so that’s where her back-up plan comes in play. She planed on having a baby by getting inseminated. On the day of her artificial insemination, Zoe meets Stan (Alex O'Loughlin). When she meet him she didn’t appear to be interested but she was. Stan ended up asking her out and it improved from there. Zoe didn’t think she would get pregnant after one time because some women need it 2-3 times. Just to make sure she took a pregnancy test and it came out positive. Zoe didn’t know how to tell Stan because she thinks he’s going to leave her. Zoe tells Stan at his farm and he was upset about the situation but stayed with her. Stan supported her threw everything and then they went to the doctors office. The doctor said she was going to have twins. Zoe thought if Stan leaves, he should go now but he wanted to be the father. After that they got into a fight and broke up cause of the word choice Stan used but Zoe grandmother made her realize she needs him so they get back together and deliver Zoe’s twins. Stan opened up his store of wine, bread, and cheese and asked Zoe to marry him. I really liked this movie, there are a lot of funny parts in it. My favorite part of the movie is the last scene, when Stan picks Zoe up and hugs her and she runs to the garbage to throw up cause she’s pregnant again. The Karate Kid

Jaden Smith plays Dre Parker, he’s a boy that won’t give anything up. Dre and his mom moved from Detroit to China. Dre feels so lost and confused like he cant fit in. Having to go to a different school where you don’t know anyone can be hard at his age. Dre was teased and beaten by some of his school members but his apartment building handyman came to help him. His name is Mr. Chan played by Jackie Chan. Dre asks Mr. Chan if he can help him learn how to defend himself and agreed to it. Dre went threw a lot of difficult times when training, and for the student and teacher trust one another. Mr. Chan wanted to teach Dre martial arts correctly. I really like this movie cause it has an inspiring motive. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is taken place in the land of Persia. If you like action movies than this is the one for you. Jake Gyllenhaal plays Dustin who is the main character. When he was born he was a normal child in the city but he didn’t have a family to care for him. He wasn’t born with royal blood, the king of Persia saw him and asked if he had a family. The king decided to bring Dustin in to the family. 15 tears later he was use to the royal life. Another town was making weapons planning on selling them. But nobody knew what it was or what this amazing weapon can do. Dustin found a dagger and found out if you press the top, the sand inside it makes you go back in time.  The sand inside it wasn’t regular sand, it was a certain one and very little that Princess Tamina had. He had the weapon that everyone wanted and fought over. Many people were fighting over this dagger to have power and use it for the wrong reasons. Everything that the prince and princess went threw is intense and you can’t look away. This is a really good addition for Disney to have. Awakenings

The Awakenings isn’t a newly released movie but its one of my favorites. Robin Williams plays a doctor called Dr. Malcolm Sayer. Dr. Sayer needed a job so he found one at the Bronx psychiatric hospital in 1969. When he was in medical school he said he had only worked on earthworms so he was nervous to work with people especially catatonic people. One day Dr. Sayer received a new patient and she had no response like the others but she had reflexes. He would drop her glasses and she will catch them. Dr. Sayer didn’t want to give up on the patients so he did research and all of the catatonic patients have one thing in common, it was they all had an infection and it attacked their brain. Their brain swelled up creating them catatonic. No one found out how they got it and he was the one who figured it out. He wanted to help them all but he needed to test a drug on only one patients named Leonard Lowe, played by Robert De Niro. Dr. Sayer gave Leonard a small dosage of the drug and he was able to swallow food and water. The doctor gave him a very high dosage of the drug and the next morning Leonard wasn’t in his bed. The drug worked and he was able to walk feed him self talk, everything. His boss was surprised so he let him give the drug to all the patients. Unfortunately Leonard began getting side affects, and wasn’t getting any better. Dr. Sayer couldn’t give another dosage of the drug because its dangerous. Leonard went back to being frozen and Dr. Sayer couldn’t believe he was able to give all the patients their life back and then take it away. This movie is a tear dropper. It made me feel so grateful for not being frozen or seeing anyone I care for in that position. There are a lot of funny parts also. The Social Network

The Social Network is a movie about a college student named Mark Zuckerberg who had invented the Facebook we know today. The only reason he created Facebook was because he wasn’t asked to join any of the clubs in Harvard. A leader of a club asked mark to help them make a network called the Harvard connection, which is kind of like Facebook, but mark didn’t steal any codes or anything. His idea was just better. Facebook was invented just for the students at Harvard but since it was so popular he opened it up to a couple more schools in New York and then around the United States and also in Europe. Eduardo Saverin was his best friend at that time. He was the co founder of Facebook and was always there for mark. Mark gets advice from a man that created Napster but someone stool it away from him. Eduardo gets jealous and closes down the Facebook account at the bank creating a huge dilemma. Eduardo signed a contract that was setting him up for disaster. It basically said that he would no longer be paid 35% but now .03%. Eduardo comes back with lawyers and the need to resolve that problem. Mark was the first youngest billionaire in the world. I loved this movie. It was so interesting to know how Facebook was created and the only reason why it was created. One thing I didn’t like was the beginning, it was a little bit confusing but i was able to figure it out by the end. This movie is completely true. Every name, every person, and all the dates. The Hangover

The Hangover isn't a new movie but this movie is may favorite movie of all time. It's hilarious and very suspenseful. Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zack Galifinanakis, Heather Graham, and Justin Bartha play very important parts in this film. The Hangover is about this man named Doug, is about to get married and decides to go to Las Vegas for his bachelor party. Allen played by Zack Galifinanakis chooses to put ecstasy in everyone’s drinks but it turned out to be the wrong drug named roofies. After that everyone wakes up to their villa in the hotel to be totally trashed beyond belief. There was a bigger problem on their hands. They couldn’t find the groom anywhere. On their quest to find Doug they find out exactly what they did that night. Very surprising and hilarious things happen when they try to find Doug. This movie is crazy and super funny. I highly recommend this movie if you just want to laugh a lot. To watch a quick trailer you can watch it hear.

The Expendables

The movie The Expendables is filled with action and crazy stunts.
The Expendables are very mysterious people, they don’t tell you in the movie their names. They just use random things like Mr. Christmas. It's about a group of men that are mercenaries that are hired to infiltrate the South American country to get rid of their dictator. But the main part of the movie is if you feel comfortable with the people you work with and if you are able to trust them. In the group one of the men gets fired and starts working with South America. When the entire group see that one of their previous workers is on the other side it was very shocking. Sylvester Stallone falls in love with the daughter of the dictator of South America. Stallone ends up going back to South America just to save her life.  One thing that I don't like about this movie is that it's very bloody. Killers

The Killers is a movie about a girl named Jen that goes on a vacation with her parents because she just got out of a relationship. She goes to Venice and meet this man named Spencer and they fall in love. After 3 years they get married and Spencer quit his previous job as a assassin to protect his wife. Spencer received a message from his previous boss that he wants Spencer to work for him again. That was also the day of his birthday and comes home to a surprise party at his house. One of his friends got drunk and stayed at their house for that night, his friend turns his back on him and realized that hes back in the game with his job. Someone wants Spencer dead and they will pay his killer 20 mil. In the ending you will find out who is really his friend or killer. This movie is suspenseful and very funny. Death at a Funeral

If your hosting a funeral event you would want everything to be perfect as it could possibly be, right? This movie is about a family losing a loved one and the family reunites on that sad day. But many unexpected, shocking, romance and digusting things happen. Basically everything that can go wrong went wrong. I think Death at a Funeral is a hilarious movie and I highly recommend it if you need a good laugh. The move gets so intense that the body is knocked out of the coffin during the speeches and when the fathers son steps up to speak he brings that family together showing them what really matters in life  ways to be a family. Chris Rock, Keith David, Martin Lawerence, and etc. are shown is this film. If your interested to see a short trailer you are able to see it here. The American

In the movie The American, George Clooney is the main character playing a assassin named Jack. No matter what he is always alone and never stays in the same town. His job in Sweden wasn't handled as well as it could of been, so he returns back to a small city in Italy. He can't stand the fact that hes there but he has to deal with it. While he is in Italy he takes a job to create a weapon for a questionable contact. He is the perfect one for this job because he has an eye for weapons, and hes very good with putting things together. Jack also falls in love with a women named Clara. Clara is played by Violante Placido. They spend a lot of time together in that small town in Italy, and romance begins. Being in love can make you feel like nobody can harm you. Its like your free, but jacks past might test fate. If your into to Action movies I highly recommended you to watch this movie. This movie is rated R. Salt

The movie Salt is about a CIA worker that is untrusted, her superiors believe that she is a Russian spy that wants to kill the president of the United States. This entire movie shows how she needs to get back to her husband and prove that shes not the spy. Her job as a CIA worker needs to find the real Russian spy that framed her before he kills the president and before she gets incarcerated. This movie has many ups and downs. she has to go threw alot to gain the CIA's trust back. Angelina Jolie did a very good job. I really liked this movie because it really makes you question if she is a CIA worker or a spy. There many reason why you would think that shes a spy. I think the ending of the movie was a kill, the movie wants you make up your own ending. It really leaves you hanging wanting to watch more. Avatar

In Avatar, there is a man named Jake Sully and he is Veteran from the war. His brother was a part of the Avatar program and he had his own Avatar. When he did they asked Jake to help out because since they have the same DNA base they can use the same avatar. In return they would give Jake (Paraplegic) his legs back. The planet is called Pandora and it is inhabited by a primitive race called the Na’vi and Jake is sent in to learn their ways so that he can help relocate them and the humans can take over. The movie is a good example of what we are doing to our world. We are destroying the environment and natural world which the human race relies on for resources and ecosystems to keep the planet healthy for human life. That is what the humans want to do in this movie. They want them to move so they can get a metal that is very expensive. While killing everything in its path. i highly recommend this movie because the story is very meaningful and the special effects in Avatar was spectacular. PG-13
   

The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight is a sequel to Batman Begins. Christian Bale returns as Bruce Wayne and Bat Man. District Attorney Harvey Dent and Lt. James Gordon are still doing their job and making sure Gotham is a safe place to be. But a psychotic new villain known as the Joker wants to ruin everything they have worked for. Batman's success as a crime fighter has generated new problems for Gotham, including a consolidation of the crime masters who once controlled the city on their own.The Joker will do anything and everything to try to get a hold of Bat Man. The Joker makes it hard on Bat Man because hes is killing people everyday. Bat Man can only stop the madness if he reveals himself and gotham will no longer have a savior. In this movie there are very difficult choices that are presented and heartbreaking scenes. Theres is even romance and drama with Harveys current girlfriend. (Bruce Wayne ex girlfriend)  I recomend this movie if your into suspense. PG-13
